2023-24 Executive Board
Thank you, 2023-24 Executive Board!
Following the 2024-25 elections, we want to take this opportunity to thank our prior Executive Committee and all the members for their continuous love and support.
Starting with our Co-Presidents, Dr Kyla Nichols and Aditi Doshi, who dedicated their time at the University to promote the organization’s mission. Their leadership has created a culture of camaraderie and upliftment in the GWiSE community. A 2024 graduate from Northeastern University, Kyla is pursuing her Post-Doctorate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and will continue to serve graduate women in STEM through New England GWiSE (a consortium of GWiSE groups in New England). Aditi graduated in 2024 with a Master’s in Biotechnology degree and has made a remarkable impact in GWISE with her compassion and composure.
Our Treasurer, Sabrina Marnoto has been an integral part of the team. With her attention to detail and meticulous attitude, she contributed to the success of the organization by helping us keep track of the budget and securing funds. She was a critical support to many events during her tenure.
Together, we hosted a diverse array of events that fostered the four pillars of GWISE. The year kicked off with a Welcome Back Fall Mixer, followed by professional development workshops like the LinkedIn Workshop and Biotechnology Panel discussion and Networking event in collaboration with the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering Northeastern University Student Chapter (Tentative). Members enjoyed creative and social activities, such as making friendship bracelets on Craft Day, pumpkin painting for Halloween, Candle Making, and Reverse Water Coloring. GWiSE also emphasized inclusivity with events like a panel discussion during Transgender Visibility Week and a discussion on “A Minority Woman’s Journey to Data Leadership”.
There were numerous opportunities for networking through events like the Speed Dating and the New England GWiSE Fall Retreat Workshop. Community building was at the heart of many events, including the Making Strides Walk, Story Circles, and volunteering at Community Servings. We wrapped up a successful year with a week-long celebration for the Week of Women in March and an End-of-the-Year Hurrah.
Our GWiSE community truly created a space that allowed students to thrive and succeed. It cultivated a supportive and enriching environment that not only empowered its members to pursue their academic and professional goals but also fostered lifelong friendships. Thank you all for your contributions and commitment to GWiSE and to those who are graduating, we look forward to engaging with you as an alumna!
As we embark on this new academic year, we are dedicated to supporting you through your academic journey and bringing joy by curing a diverse range of events. We look forward to accompanying you on this adventure and creating memorable moments together.
All the best,
GWiSE E-Board 2024-25
